Relief efforts during the Great East Japan Earthquake
From March 24th to 27th, 2011, Director Satoshi Matsuda was one of the first to accompany the second group of the "Hyogo Prefecture/JMAT Hyogo Medical Association Medical Support Team," and for the first time as a support doctor from outside the prefecture, he provided ophthalmological medical care at the Ishinomaki Junior High School evacuation shelter in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, an area affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
The damage in the affected areas was enormous, and approximately 600 people who had lost their families and homes were forced to live in evacuation shelters at Ishinomaki Junior High School.
We would like to share some of these findings with you here, and we pray for a speedy recovery for the affected areas and for the victims to return to their daily lives.

It was introduced using reconstruction funds after the Great East Japan Earthquake, and normally carries out medical checkups and awareness-raising activities.
In addition to providing support to disaster-stricken areas in Japan, we also provide support to victims of Typhoon Yolanda in the Republic of the Philippines, and work in the Republic of Palau, where there are no ophthalmologists.
They also played an active role during the heavy rain disaster in western Japan.
